Victoria Kennedy Microgrant Recipient

My name's Geneva (They/Them) and I'm a black, queer game developer with a few projects under my belt. I'm so excited and honored to be a recipient of the Victoria Kennedy Microgrant since it'll help me finish my current project Skate & Date. Skate & Date is a roller derby, rhythm ga(y)me where you play as Maggie, a stubbornly optimistic high school student who happens to be the lead jammer for the Rockin' Rollergirls. 

I ended up creating this game for my younger self since I've always wanted to have more cutesy, lesbian love stories in the media I consumed. I've been working on this game by myself since 2018, but thanks to this grant I will be able to commission the rest of the art to help get this game completed. Eve (@balitzy on twitter) will be helping to create CGs that will really make this story come to life. Skate & Date will get a new demo sometime this year featuring the new art on Itch.io/Steam and will release Q3 2023.
