Microgrant Recipients Q1 2021
On April 2nd, 2021, Qweerty was delighted to announce LIVE on our Twitch channel the 2 recipients of our Victoria Kennedy Microgrant Program!
Firstly, a round of applause for the wonderful Teddie Guzman, creator of the upcoming visual novel game “My Weekend In Halcyon”. Teddie received the Victoria Kennedy Microgrant to assist in his game’s development; “My Weekend In Halcyon” is a game that features LGBTQ+ relationships, and holds a focus on romance, adventure, horror, and science fiction- quite a massive combination of themes, and we’re right here for it! Teddie Guzman stated that he “is elated to receive the Victoria Kennedy Microgrant from Qweerty Gamers. Thanks to Qweerty’s support, Teddie’s visual novel game, “My Weekend in Halcyon,” where player’s choices can lead to romance, heartbreak, or something more is one step closer to being completed.” You can check for updates on the development of the game through the developer’s Twitter page here!
Another round is needed for Lynn Richter, the second recipient of Qweerty’s Victoria Kennedy Microgrant Program! Richter is the community manager for Knockout City and the director of marketing for Women in Games International. Following the announcement, Lynn Richter stated that she “is thrilled to accept the Qweerty Microgrant, which will help offset her costs as she designs social media posts for Women in Games International. Lynn is an energetic marketing manager with nearly a decade of experience in marketing, gaming, and pop culture events, partnerships, and activations, and is an earnest advocate for diversity and equality in gaming. Her imaginative work in creating welcoming community spaces began with creating some of the first video game cocktail bars in the US-- spaces where adult gamers could meet and feel comfortable talking about everything from esports to cosplay. This entrepreneurial success led her to open 4 unique businesses dedicated to creating spaces for people to connect and share their love for games. Bringing people together is what she loves most in life. Now as she leads the marketing communications strategy for WIGI, Lynn seeks to expand WIGI's outreach and fundraising efforts through social media marketing, while actively championing equal opportunities in the games industry.”
You can read more about Lynn here.
For those looking to enter the Microgrant Program as well, please note that we are accepting applications until April 30th, 11:59 PM PST.
Thank you so much for following along, and congratulations to the recipients!
