Qweerty Gamers is highly disappointed with the response from the casting agency that provides
“heads” for seat filling at the Game Awards happening on December 8th in Los Angeles, CA. While we’re honored to have been reached out about this opportunity, it is disappointing to learn that simple disability accommodations are not an option for any in the audience.
Many queer disabled people have experienced and expressed a feeling of not being included in such events, which is something that many organizers have worked to fix in similar events, especially Pride. Seeing that our mission at Qweerty Gamers is to provide LGBTQIA+ resources, support, and networking access to advance visibility and representation in the global gaming and media industry, it only seems right to advocate for accommodations at the game awards for the seat-filling of disabled LGBTQIA+ folks to experience the event by being given accommodations to do so.
We believe this doesn’t match The Game Awards’ mission to uphold excellence in the video game industry, and we invite them to discuss this matter.
